In order to emulate the sound of older vintage equipment, a distortion unit and a ‘lo-fi’ bit reduction effect were implemented into the sound library. These give the user the creative ability to darken or brighten the tonal qualities of the raw drum sounds.

GUI View of effects panel: In this view, users have access to multiple effects such as distortion, bit depth and sample rate reduction, bypass switches for these effects, transient shaping and an output limiter. These are individual effects across the sixteen groups, rather than one overall effect for the whole kit. Many types of sound are achievable, such as lo resolution chiptune drums, hardware drum machine sounds, loud distorted breakbeat sounds, the combinations are infinite.

To integrate the instrument with live midi performance, a rhythm designer and velocity randomiser were integrated into the library. This makes it possible to modulate the sample library based on the type of expression the instrument is played with.

GUI View of 'Velocity Modulator': In this view, users can modulate incoming midi signals within a set of parameters, giving more (or less) control over the velocity range played by the library. Users can set the library to only output loud samples, quiet samples, or a fixed or random selection of samples. This can give exciting results when creating complex rhythms.

GUI View of 'Rhythm Generator': In this view, users can apply a midi modulator on a per key basis. Users have access to articulations such as release hit, which will play a note once the key is released, good for percussive rhythms. Tools such as flam, note roll, velocity humanization a
